Pedestrian dies following collision near Winchester

A pedestrian involved in a collision with a car near Winchester has died.

Caitlin Homan was walking on the B3049 in Sparsholt near the Lainston House Hotel when she was hit by a Vauxhall Corsa at about 13:00 BST on Wednesday.

Miss Homan, 24, of Canton, Connecticut, USA, was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital for treatment, where she was later pronounced dead.

A dog also in collision with the Vauxhall Corsa was taken to be treated by a local vet.

The Corsa driver, a 17-year-old woman from Winchester, was interviewed by police but was not arrested.

Hampshire Constabulary is appealing for witnesses to come forward.
