Portsmouth house murder: Victim named

A man who is believed to have died after being assaulted at a house in Portsmouth has been identified.

Keith David Bevis, 31, of Fawcett Road, Southsea, was found inside a terraced property on Seagrove Road, in North End, on Saturday.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. A 39-year-old man from Hampshire was arrested on suspicion of murder.

Detectives have been given more time to question him.

A post-mortem examination is due to take place to find out how Mr Bevis died. His next of kin have been informed.

Senior investigating officer Det Ch Insp Stuart Murray said: "We are continuing to gather evidence at the scene in Seagrove Road where police cordons are likely to stay in place until tomorrow afternoon.

"This is a routine process to ensure we are thorough in examining the location of a murder. I'd like to reassure the community that there is no evidence of a risk to other members of the public."
