Southampton newsagents robbed at knifepoint

Robbers armed with knives have raided a Southampton newsagents.

Two men entered Thornhill newsagents in Thornhill Park Road, Bitterne, at 06:40 BST and threatened two members of staff with knives.

They stole cigarettes and money before joining others waiting outside and running towards Thornhill Park Woods.

Two men have been arrested and a number of knives seized, but police are looking for several other suspects.

The staff who were threatened were not injured, but were left badly shaken.

Hampshire police said the men were arrested at a nearby address.

Anyone who was in the area between 06:30 and 07:00 and saw the group, or anything suspicious, have been urged to contact police.
