Armed police sealed off part of a Hampshire village after concerns were raised about a man in a house.

Selborne resident Carla Coulston, 44, described a "rather large" police operation involving marksmen in the village during the early hours.

A 50-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill.

Selborne Church of England Primary School was closed but has now reopened. No-one was injured.

A six-mile stretch of the B3006 was closed between the A31 at Alton and the A3 at Greatham until about 10:00 GMT.

Ms Coulston said: "Police dealt with it extremely well and kept us informed."
