Man held over double stabbing at university in Southampton
A man has been arrested over the stabbing of two people at university accommodation in Southampton.
Paramedics arrived at Southampton Solent University's Kimber halls shortly before 15:00 GMT and found two men, aged 18 and 23, with knife wounds.
They were taken to Southampton General Hospital where one needed surgery, but his condition is not life threatening. The other man has been discharged.
A 20-year-old man was later arrested in Winchester and is being questioned.
Ambulance crews were first on the scene and alerted police.
Armed officers were initially sent, but they were quickly stood down.
Officers confirmed a knife, believed to be the one used, was recovered at the scene.
A Southampton Solent University spokesperson said: "This is an isolated incident and we are confident that we have the appropriate security measures in place.
"Naturally our concerns at this time are for the two injured students who we trust will make swift and full recoveries."
