Man held after Portsmouth doorstep stabbing

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a 75-year-old man was stabbed at his home.

The victim was attacked at his front door in Hollam Road, Portsmouth, at about 20:20 GMT on Monday.

He was taken to hospital with injuries described by police as "serious but not life-threatening".

A 36-year-old man from the Portsmouth area was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said there was no information to suggest a wider risk to the community.
