Woman, 80, wrestles Southsea Christmas Day burglar

A pensioner was injured when she wrestled with a burglar after finding him in her home on Christmas Day.

The 80-year-old returned to her home in Froddingtn Road, Southsea, with her husband, son-in-law and his mother to find the intruder at about 18:00 GMT.

During a struggle, she suffered wrist and knee injuries before the burglar fled with jewellery and £100 in cash.

A 17-year-old local boy was arrested on Boxing Day on suspicion of assault and burglary and bailed.

The pensioner received treatment in hospital for the injuries.
