Gosport disabled sports club damaged by fire

Firefighters at Gosport & District Disabled Association Crews from eight stations tackled the blaze in the early hours of Tuesday

A Hampshire sports club for the disabled has been badly damaged by a fire in the roof.

About 40 firefighters were called to Gosport and District Sports Disabled Association in Gosport in shortly before 01:30 GMT on Tuesday.

About half the L-shaped single-storey building was damaged by the blaze. The rest experienced smoke damage.

The club, in Elson Road, gives members the chance to get involved in sports including archery, basketball and golf.

An investigation into the cause of the blaze is under way.
