Waterlooville mobility scooter rider hits knife-wielding robber

A 61-year-old man on a mobility scooter fought off three youths, including one armed with a knife, who attempted to rob him in Hampshire.

Police said the man was stopped by the group who demanded money as he crossed Novello Gardens in Waterlooville.

One of the boys produced a knife but the man punched him in the face before leaving on his scooter last Wednesday.

The youth with the knife is described as white, pale, aged 14 to 15, of slight build with short brown hair.

He was wearing black, square-rimmed glasses and a dark blue tracksuit with white piping on the legs and arms.

Det Con Kathryn Smithers said: "I would want to hear from anyone who can identify a possible suspect from the description, particularly due to the possibility of a recent facial injury."
