Man killed in Portsmouth scrapyard accident

A 50-year-old man has been killed after being hit by a piece of equipment attached to a crane at a scrapyard in Portsmouth.

The accident happened at a yard in Twyford Avenue just after 12:00 GMT on Thursday. A second man suffered non life-threatening injuries.

Hampshire Police said his next of kin have been informed and his death was not thought to be suspicious.

The force is investigating along with the Health and Safety Executive.
