Hampshire police officers arrested over corruption allegations

Two police officers have been arrested on corruption allegations following raids in Southampton on Thursday.

A total of six people were arrested as part of an investigation into disclosure of confidential police information. They have all been bailed.

Police said two female constables, aged 28 and 29, are suspected of misconduct in public office.

The 28-year-old is also suspected of perverting the course of justice and involvement in supplying class A drugs.

She has been suspended and internal misconduct proceedings are being considered for the 29-year-old.

The officers have been bailed until 27 November.

A 32-year-old man, a 28-year-old man, a 26-year-old man and a 22-year-old man have been released on bail until 11 January.

Det Supt Colin Smith, head of Hampshire Police's Professional Standards Department, said the force would "spare no efforts in investigating any allegations in order to maintain the integrity of the force and public confidence in the service".

The investigation is being supervised by the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
