Hampshire thatched house wrecked by fire

Firefighters tackle the blaze at the two-storey thatched house on Romsey Road in Cadnam A fire investigation is being carried out to establish the cause of the blaze

More than 40 firefighters spent five hours tackling a fire at a thatched house in Hampshire.

Crews were called to the two-storey property in Romsey Road, Cadnam, on Tuesday evening.

About half of the roof was destroyed by the blaze. The first floor was completely damaged by smoke and had 40% fire and water damage.

There was 10% smoke damage to the ground floor. No-one was injured and the cause is not yet known.
