A driver died in a head-on collision in the New Forest, in Hampshire.

A Vauxhall Insignia was overtaking another vehicle, on the A35 in Holmsley in the New Forest, when it was in collision with the Vauxhall Astra on Sunday.

The 61-year-old Christchurch woman, who was driving the Astra, died in the crash just before 10:00 BST.

The Insignia driver, a 52-year-old Southampton man, was held on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

A passenger in the Astra was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Officers are trying to trace the driver of a mid-to-light blue Volvo estate who may have seen the vehicles involved.
