The family of a three-year-old girl have paid tribute to their "beautiful little princess" after she was killed crossing a road in Hampshire.

Billie King, from Bursledon, was hit by a Honda CBP 600 motorcycle in Hamble Lane in Bursledon at 19:00 GMT on Thursday and later died.

Her family said her smile could "light up the darkest room".

The rider, a 38-year-old Eastleigh man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and bailed.

'Beginning life'

In a statement Billie's family said: "We are absolutely heartbroken at the loss of our beautiful little princess Billie.

"She made friends with everyone she met and her smile could light up the darkest room.

"Billie was a gorgeous girl just beginning to blow the bubbles of life. She will be deeply missed."

Billie, who was crossing the road with family members, was taken to hospital but died shortly after arrival.

Witnesses to the crash, which occurred between Pound Lane and Portsmouth Road, are asked to contact police.
