Man suffers broken legs in Portchester attack

A 37-year-old man has suffered multiple fractures to his legs after being attacked outside a Hampshire pub.

Police said the man was assaulted by five men outside the Portsdown Inn, near Portchester in the early hours.

Five men aged 20, 23, 33, 40 and 55 have been arrested and are being questioned on suspicion of assault and causing grievous bodily harm.

The victim was undergoing surgery at the Queen Alexandra Hospital, Cosham, police said.

Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
