An outbreak of the vomiting bug norovirus has forced Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital to close parts of a ward on the medical floor.

Visiting is restricted across the main hospital wards apart from the Sherborne Building with immediate effect.

From Saturday, visits will be reduced to one hour a day between 18:30 and 19:30 GMT.

The hospital is advising people not to come in if they are experiencing symptoms of diarrhoea or vomiting.

People should wait until they have been free of symptoms for 48 hours before coming to the hospital.

Children are also advised not to visit.
