Hayling Island residents in housing protest

Hayling Island residents in Hampshire have handed in a 4,500-signature petition against a proposed affordable housing development.

Protesters said the "ageing infrastructure" of the island could not support the planned 600 new homes.

But Havant Borough Council said the new development is needed because there are currently 5,000 people on the housing waiting list.
