Rise in New Forest ponies hurt by cars

Help

The number of ponies injured and killed in hit and run road accidents has risen sharply in the New Forest.

Seven animals were injured in the three weeks between 7 September and 1 October, compared with just two during the whole of August.

Garages in the national park are now being asked to report vehicles they think could have been involved.

Rewards for information that leads to a conviction are also being offered by the Verderers of the New Forest, New Forest Commoners Defence Association and the New Forest Pony Breeding and Cattle Society.
