Audio slideshow: Ordnance Survey Southampton exhibition


Ordnance Survey celebrates its 220th anniversary this year, the map-making agency has been based in Southampton since 1842. To mark the occasion, a new exhibition in the city's Maritime Museum is charting the role of the organisations surveyors, cartographers and printers over the years.

Take a look at some of the photographs with Phil Watts from Ordnance Survey - and see some of the early equipment and techniques used in mapping every part of the UK.

Ordnance Survey in Southampton: Mapping Great Britain Since 1791 is open at Southampton Maritime Museum until 5 June 2012.
