Doctors' practice manager Sharon Head jailed for fraud

A doctors' practice manager has been jailed for two years and nine months for obtaining more than £95,000 by fraud and deception.

Gloucester Crown Court heard Sharon Head, 43, gave herself unauthorised pay rises and claimed false overtime at Newnham and Westbury surgery.

She had been employed at the surgery for more than 20 years when discrepancies in her pay were found.

Head, from Blakeney, carried out the frauds over a seven-year period.

She was arrested after Gloucestershire Local Counter Fraud Service launched an investigation.

In a statement, NHS England said: "Sharon Head has grossly abused her position of trust and deceitfully taken money that was intended for the provision of patient care."
