The publisher Leo Cooper, husband of novelist Jilly Cooper, has died at the age of 79.

He had been suffering from Parkinson's disease for more than a decade, and died peacefully at the couple's Gloucestershire home on Friday.

Earlier this year Jilly Cooper said she was continuing to write to pay for him to be cared for at home.

Leo Cooper hit the headlines in the 1990s when it emerged he had had an affair, but their marriage survived.
