Gloucester women arrested over weapon attack on man

Two women have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a weapon attack on a man in Gloucester.

A "bladed weapon" is believed to have been used on the 47-year-old, who is in hospital with serious injuries.

The two women from Tuffley, a 26 and 37-year-old, remain in police custody. It is not yet know whether the suspects are known to the injured man.

Police were called in the early hours to Regent Street to reports of an assault outside a home.

Detective Inspector Ruth Mather said: "We believe three people may have been involved in this assault and our investigation is very much ongoing."
