Visitors are being barred from Cheltenham General Hospital because of an outbreak of the winter sickness bug Norovirus.

A hospital spokesman said exceptions could be made in some circumstances and relatives should speak to ward staff first.

Director of nursing Maggie Arnold said it was a "precautionary measure".

She said the restrictions will remain in place until at least Monday when they would be reviewed.
