Lydney level crossing improvements begin

Work is to begin to improve a railway level crossing in Gloucestershire.

The work will make "significant improvements" to the privately-run Dean Forest railway line.

Engineers will be replacing panels between the tracks for traffic to drive across and also repairing rails at Station Road and Harbour Road.

The work will mean the A48 Lydney bypass will close for four nights until mid-January. Traffic will be diverted through the town.

Councillor Will Windsor-Clive said: "These works are much-needed to ensure local residents and visitors from outside the county remain safe when using these level crossings.
