A family who rented a holiday cottage along a river have been rescued after becoming stranded by flood water.

Twelve members of the Hughes family booked a holiday at Ferryman's Cottage in Uckinghall, on the Gloucestershire and Worcestershire border.

But the River Severn burst its banks soon after their arrival leaving them marooned in the cottage for one week.

Simon Hughes, 44, said: "We were warned there may be a bit of a puddle, but it wasn't anything to worry about."
