Lorry crashes into Gloucestershire house

A lorry driver has escaped unhurt after his vehicle crashed into a house in Gloucestershire.

Police were called shortly after 05:00 GMT to find the lorry embedded in the side of the building, on the A40 near Whittington.

The family which was asleep inside the property also escaped without injuries.

A stretch of the A40 London Road between Cheltenham and Andoversford had to be closed while the lorry was recovered.

Inspector Tony Fisk, from Gloucestershire Police, said a structural engineer was being called out to assess the safety of the house.
