A couple whose home was damaged by a massive gas explosion in Cheltenham on 10 May have said they are looking forward to moving back in.

The gas blast in Rosehill Street destroyed three properties, and people in at least 10 other homes were forced to move while repairs were carried out.

Edward and Claire Cook have been living in rented accommodation since the blast and are returning to their house later.

Mrs Cook said: "It will be nice to come home."

"There's loads to do," added Mr Cook. "The garden looks like a tropical jungle now, it's gone absolutely crazy, so there is lots of work to do out there.

"I'm a bit apprehensive in some respects, just because it's the scene of the event."

An investigation into the explosion has found there were no leaks in the street's gas mains.

Wales and West Utilities said there were no gas leaks from the old cast-iron main or the new polyethylene one which supplied Rosehill Street.

An investigation into the explosion by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is continuing, Wales and West Utilities said.
