A CCTV image of a man wanted in connection with an attempted sexual assault in Gloucester has been released by police.

A 16-year-old girl was approached next to the Clock Tower flats in Coney Hill on Wednesday.

The man was caught on camera in the area close to the time of the attack.

Police said the incident is no longer being linked to three other sexual assaults throughout Gloucestershire during the last six months.

Earlier in the week detectives said they were investigating whether the incident was linked to a rape which happened in the same area on 2 May, when a 20-year-old woman was attacked in grassland near the Clock Tower.

Two other sexual assaults over the last six months in Gloucestershire are also still being investigated by officers as part of Operation Abbeymead, police said.

Det Ch Insp Alistair Stenner from Gloucestershire Police said: "We continue to treat this latest incident very seriously, and as such an appropriate number of officers are investigating it.

"However, after an assessment of the information available it will not currently form part of the Operation Abbeymead investigation."
