Woman hit by car in Cheltenham dies in hospital

A 90-year-old woman has died after being struck by a car in Cheltenham.

The victim was walking on Leckhampton Road at 17:50 BST on Thursday when she was struck by a red Citroen C3 car at the junction with Liddington Road.

A Gloucestershire Police spokesman said the woman was taken to Cheltenham General for treatment but died on Friday morning.

A 17-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and remains in custody.

Police have asked witnesses to come forward.
