Gloucester City Council staff consider strike action

Staff at Gloucester City Council are considering industrial action over plans to cut pay and benefits.

Proposed changes include a 5% reduction in salary across the board.

The authority, which is run by a minority Conservative administration, needs to save £6.5m over the next three years.

At a Unison union meeting in December, more than 60% of members voted in favour of strike action. A formal ballot of staff will now take place.
