A three-year-old boy who needed 200 stitches after being savaged by a dog still suffers psychological problems, his family has said.

Josh Mann, of Brockworth, was attacked in Andoversford in September.

His scars are healing but his grandmother Wendy Mann said: "He suffers from nightmares - he has medication to help him sleep but he still screams in his sleep.

"He remembers the attack and there isn't a day he doesn't go on about it."

Mrs Mann now cares mainly for Josh while his mother, Lisa, is at work.

The attack happened at a farm belonging to his other grandparents near Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.

The collie involved was later put down.

Mrs Mann said: "We are getting a lot of help, he's under a wonderful doctor at Cheltenham."

Josh has had three operations and he still takes several types of medication daily and faces further hospital visits.

But his grandmother said they were just happy he survived the ordeal.

"We're just so thankful that we have him," she said.
