Gloucestershire's waste strategy published
The proposed strategy for dealing with Gloucestershire's waste has been published.
The county council is inviting people to comment on the plans, which can be seen online and at all council offices and libraries.
The Waste Core Strategy sets out how the council intends to handle rubbish and includes four sites that could be used for dealing with it.
Over 5,000 people signed a petition against proposals for an incinerator.
The council said it had to find an alternative to landfill and an incinerator was just one option.
The authority's residual waste project has also been put on hold until early 2011 after Defra withdrew £92m in funding.
Following feedback from a public consultation last year, Wingmoor Farm East, Wingmoor Farm West, Javelin Park and land at Moreton Valance were shortlisted as possible sites for dealing with waste.
The proposals will have to go through the planning process.
The final strategy will be subject to public examination and has to be approved by the government.
People can submit their comments until 7 February 2011.
