Illegal immigrants found in beer lorry at Calais

Man on box of beer Officials discovered the men among boxes of beer

Two illegal immigrants were caught trying to enter the UK on a beer-filled lorry bound for Gloucestershire.

A sniffer dog alerted its handler to the pair, both Indian nationals, at the port of Calais on Friday.

A UK Border Agency spokesman said its officers then discovered them among boxes of beer.

The two were handed to French border police and the lorry was allowed to travel on to Sharpness.

The agency spokesman said the driver and the haulage company could be fined if they cannot prove they took the right steps to secure the UK-registered lorry.
