Boy arrested over Tewkesbury sex assault

A 14-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with a sexual assault at a supermarket in Gloucestershire.

The incident happened in Tewkesbury on Wednesday and the boy has been released on police bail.

The force said in an unrelated incident, a man, 28, had been arrested on suspicion of the attempted rape of a 19-year-old woman in the town.

A force spokesman said he wanted to reassure residents the two incidents were not linked.

The attack happened in an alleyway between Canterbury Leys and Northway Lane in the early hours of Wednesday.

The suspect is in police custody.
