A man accused his grandfather of sexually abusing a relative and then killed him, a court has heard.

Anthony Winter, 34, from Westborough Road in Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex, denies murdering his grandfather John Anker, 84, in November last year.

He admits attempting to murder his grandmother, Pamela Anker, 81, at a flat in Burr Hill Chase, Southend.

Chelmsford Crown Court heard Mr Winters called police after the attack and said: "I've killed my grandparents."

Prosecutor Peter Gair told the court Mr Winter had discussed the Jimmy Savile scandal with his grandparents, before allegedly getting a bread knife from the kitchen and carrying out the attack.

Mr Anker was found with his legs and arms tied up, with stab wounds to his neck, arms and chest.

Mrs Anker had superficial wounds to her throat and wrist.

The trial continues.
