Sand-throwing boy slapped by woman in Lowestoft

An eight-year-old boy was slapped by a woman after sand he had thrown accidentally hit a girl standing nearby, police said.

The boy was playing with his cousin on a beach in Lowestoft when he was grabbed by the woman.

Police investigating the assault said he was slapped around the head, before running to tell his mother.

Officers said they wanted to speak to the woman, who was described as white, and about 5ft 10in (1.78m) tall.

Police said she spoke with a foreign accent was wearing a bikini and white shorts.

The incident happened near Claremont Pier at about 12:30 BST on 31 July.
