Former N-Dubz singer Dappy slap case bench retires

Magistrates have retired to consider their verdict in the case of former N-Dubz member Dappy who is accused of slapping a man outside a nightclub.

George Chittock claims he was attacked by the singer after an event at Chicago's in Chelmsford on 27 February.

Dappy, 27, of St Albans, Hertfordshire, is at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court under his real name Dino Costas Contostavlos.

Mr Contostavlos denies assault by beating.

Prosecutor Jaqueline Carey told the court he and Mr Chittock were in a smoking area along with a minder and two of the club's door staff when the alleged incident happened.

The performer was later arrested by police and claimed he acted in self-defence.
