James Attfield murder inquiry: Couple could help investigation
A month after a "vulnerable man" died from more than 100 stab wounds in a Colchester park attack, two people seen on CCTV on the night of the incident could help with inquires, police said.
James Attfield, 33, was found with fatal injuries in the town's Lower Castle Park at 06:00 GMT on 29 March.
Police want to trace a man and woman seen near a park bench between 00:30 and 02:19.
Six people captured on CCTV in the park have been eliminated from inquiries.
Det Ch Insp Simon Werrett, from Essex Police, said: "I would urge these two people to come forward or if anyone recognises them I would ask them to get in touch with the inquiry team."
Police continue to try and piece together Mr Attfield's movements between the evening of 28 March and when he was found the following morning with 102 stab wounds.
A police spokesman said it was not certain if the man and woman seen on the CCTV images knew each other, although they may have been a couple who had a row earlier in the evening.
Another man and a woman, both aged 27 and from Colchester, have been arrested in connection with the murder and bailed until 9 May pending further inquiries.
