Grower turns on disco lights to pamper strawberries

27 March 2014 Last updated at 15:42 GMT

A strawberry grower in Essex has turned to disco lighting to produce his nursery's first out-of-season, English strawberries.

The blue and red LED lights, it is claimed, help the berries to synthesise and produce the sugars which make them sweet and tasty.

The aim is to extend the nursery's growing season until Christmas.
