Danielle Watson denies 'cancer lie' scam

A 23-year-old woman has denied pretending to have terminal cancer in order to make money.

Danielle Watson is accused of tricking donors by saying she was trying to raise £6,000 towards therapy to treat stage four cervical cancer, in 2012.

Ms Watson, from Rowhedge near Colchester, pleaded not guilty to six charges of fraud by deception.

She will return to Basildon Crown Court on 14 July for what is expected to be a four-day trial.

The alleged offence took place between January and June 2012, affecting six people.
