Former N-Dubz singer Dappy has denied assaulting a man outside a nightclub in Essex.

The pop star, whose real name is Costadinos Contostavlos, is accused of attacking the man on 27 February after he appeared at Chicago's in Chelmsford.

At Chelmsford Magistrates' Court the 26-year-old, who lives in St Albans, Hertfordshire, pleaded not guilty to one count of assault by beating.

He will stand trial at the court on 18 June and was given unconditional bail.

In January the singer came second on reality TV show Celebrity Big Brother.
