Four people were injured when a taxi left the road, went through railings and struck a ground floor flat window.

Those living nearby say the collision at 04:40 GMT is the latest in a string of incidents in High Road, Loughton.

By the time the fire service arrived, three people had been released from the two vehicles involved in the accident.

A fourth person was freed by firefighters from the back of the taxi. All suffered minor injuries.

Structural engineers and Essex Fire and Rescue's urban search team were also sent to the site of the crash to help out.

A similar collision with one of the buildings on the opposite side of the road occurred a few weeks ago, resident Jane McDonald said.
