Hockley assault victim dies at Romford hospital

A 41-year-old man has died of his injuries following an alleged assault in Essex.

He was found unconscious in Broad Walk, Hockley, by a member of the public on Saturday.

An ambulance crew took him to Southend Hospital before he was moved to Queen's Hospital in Romford.

The man has not yet been identified but a post-mortem examination is to be carried out to establish the cause of his death.

Glenn Cooper of Broad Walk is charged with causing grievous bodily harm.

He has been remanded in custody until 5 May when he is due to appear at Basildon Crown Court.
