A man who was shot in the leg as he arrived at a railway station in Essex remains in hospital while police wait to interview him.
City trader Robin Clark, 44, was attacked in the car park at Shenfield station early on Friday morning, by a gunman wearing a balaclava disguise.
Police said it was a targeted attack and have tried to reassure the public.
They are looking for clues and a motive for the shooting of Mr Clark, who works for brokerage firm RP Martin in London.
A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said: "The victim of the attack currently remains in hospital with a serious leg injury, and we hope he will be fit enough to be interviewed by officers in the next couple of days."
Det Supt Gary Richardson said: "We are doing everything in our power to identify the motive behind the attack, which we hope in turn will enable us to identify the person or people responsible.
"I would also like to repeat my reassurance to the general public that there is no reason for any undue concern as we believe this was a targeted attack."
Anyone with any information which they believe could assist the investigation is asked to contact British Transport Police.
