Man dies at Colchester building site

The death of a man at a building site in Colchester is being investigated by police.

Essex Police was called to the site at King Edward Quay shortly before 07:30 GMT.

The man, who is yet to be identified, was treated by paramedics at the scene but died soon after.

Police said officers were investigating the "circumstances of the death" and added that the Health and Safety Executive had been notified.

The company developing the site, JR Pickstock, said it was a "tragic incident".

In a statement, the company said: "The incident involved an employee of the principle contractor for the project, Urban Summit Ltd.

"As the client, we are unable to comment any further information at this point in time."
