A promising footballer says he fears the injuries he suffered in a vicious street attack may have ended his career.

Non-league Wivenhoe Town goalkeeper Richie Robins was kicked and beaten by six men in Colchester town centre over Christmas.

The 21-year-old from Clacton suffered fractures to his eye socket and cheek bones in the assault and has since undergone facial surgery.
