Police searching for a missing shop worker from Southend have said that a man's body has been found in woodland.

It was discovered by a member of the public near Bullwood Approach, Hockley, about 10:30 GMT.

An ambulance crew declared the man deceased at the scene. The body has been taken to hospital for formal identification.

Police are not treating the death as suspicious.

The family of missing man Mark Barnes, 36, have been informed of the discovery.
