Single gunshot killed man in Orsett 'family-related' shooting

A man found dead at his home in Essex died in a "tragic family-related incident", police have said.

Robert Heaven, 61, was discovered at his house in Hemley Road, Orsett on 3 December.

A post-mortem examination revealed he had died from a single gunshot wound to the head.

A 45-year-old man also found at the address with gunshot wounds remains in hospital with "life-changing injuries", Essex Police said.

Det Insp Martin Pasmore said: "This appears to be a tragic family-related incident. We are not looking for anyone else in connection with the matter.

"An unregistered firearm was recovered from the scene and we will investigate the origin of this weapon.

"We are not treating Mr Heaven's death as suspicious."
