Essex Police set up police station pen for missing calf

A pen was set up at an Essex police station for a stray calf found running down a road.

Officers have contacted farmers in the Billericay area but so far nobody has claimed the brown and white animal or reported a calf missing.

It was caught running along the town's Queens Bay Avenue on Monday.

The calf was taken to Wickford police station where staff converted the former kennels into a pen.

No image of the calf has been released by police who were concerned doing so might jeopardise their efforts to find its rightful owner.

The animal has since been moved to a local farm to be looked after.
