Three people have been arrested by armed police in Essex on suspicion of conspiracy to commit armed robbery.

Officers from the Metropolitan Police Flying Squad and Essex Police took part in the operation in Eastwood Road North, Leigh-on-Sea, at 09:50 GMT.

They arrested two men, one in his 30s and one in his 40s, and a woman, believed to be in her 30s.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said all three were being held at police stations in London.
